Venison & Blue Cheese Burgers with Mushrooms

A nice twist on an otherwise boring deer burger!
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. ground venison
- 2 tbs. butter
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 small onion finely diced
- 1 3.75 oz. package Sweet Onion Burger Seasoning Sportsman's Table Item #CYC1711
- 2 1/4 cups fresh mushrooms coarsley chopped
- 3/4 cup blue cheese, crumbled
- 2 tbs. bread crumbs
- 4 burger buns we like wheat buns
- salt amount to taste
- pepper amount to taste
- 4 lettuce leaves optional to garnish burger
- 4 slices tomatoes optional to garnish burger
Instructions
- Melt butter in medium skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and saute until onions are translucent. Stir in mushrooms and saute until soft. Transfer to medium bowl and allow to cool. Add ground venison, blue cheese, bread crumbs, salt and pepper and mix with your hands to blend. Form 4 large patties. Grill, pan fry or broil until browned. Grilling is recommended. Be very careful not to overcook. Venison is very lean and cooks quicker than beef. Add to bun with lettuce, tomato and your choice of other condiments.
