While this is not a fish or wild game appetizer, this recipe goes great with venison steaks or any wild game or fish as your main course. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 2 medium onions thinly sliced
- 1 tbs. butter
- 1 loaf sliced sandwich bread or 1 package of cocktail-sizedparty ryes
- 1 8 oz. pacakge cream cheese softened
- 3/4 cup chopped almonds
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp. lemon pepper seasoning
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- 28 roasted salted almonds
Instructions
- In a large skillet, saute onions in butter for 7-10 min. or until golden brown. Set aside. Cut bread into 2 in. rounds (or use cockail-size bread to skip this step). Place bread on baking sheet/s. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-8 min. or until lightly toasted. In a small mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, chopped almonds, Worcestershire sauce and lemon pepper seasoning. Spread 1 rounded tsp. of mixture over each bread round. Sprinkle with paprika and top each with an almond. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-8 min. or until heated through. This appetizer can be prepared ahead of time until the last step. When guests arrive, heat through and serve.
